A complete transformation—restoring a heavily altered period property to its original character.

This period property had been converted into flats by a previous owner, leaving its façade in a poor state. When our clients, Matt and Jayne, purchased it as their family home, they understood the scale of work required to restore its original beauty.

Once the internal areas were converted back into a single dwelling, they entrusted us with the restoration of the front elevation. Undoing years of substandard repairs and neglect, we brought this property back to life.

The final result exceeded expectations. Matt summed up their reaction perfectly:

  • Render removal: Complete removal of cement-based render and extensive brick reforming.
  • Brick repairs: Over 450 brick repairs to restore the façade.
  • Fracture reinforcement: Extensive Heli-Bar reinforcement work for structural faults and fractures, including the entire joint between the main building and bay brickwork.
  • Bay sill restoration: Restoration of both first and ground-floor bay sills.
  • Stone repairs: Extensive restoration, including detailed stonework repairs to integrate with the new timber frames and bay stonework.
  • Joint repairs: Closing down all large perpend joints using brick colour-matched mortar.
  • Repointing: Full rake-out and repointing with a neat flush joint using our bespoke heritage fine lime putty mortar mix.
  • Damp treatment: Damp injection works carried out across the elevation.
  • Plinth replacement: Removal and replacement of the plinth, including the installation of new period-style air vents.
  • New windows: Installation of new timber sash windows by Beech Hall Joinery.
  • Stonework restoration: Complete paint burn-off, extensive face filling, and repainting of all stonework.
  • Barge board replacement: Removal and replacement of the barge board.
  • Guttering upgrade: Installation of new downpipes and guttering for the elevation.
