About Us

Finelay Construction was founded in the year 2000 by Mr Adrian Finlay after many years of experience in the field of building restoration.

Since our founding date we have undertaken and completed a plethora of projects, each to a standard of the highest quality, returning properties back to their original beauty and integrity.

Working with both private and commercial clients we strive to achieve all expectations that are relayed to us and complete every project with the utmost care and in a competent and safe manner.

Finelay Construction is not VAT Registered, saving you 20% on any works undertaken by us.

Your Restoration Project Is Our Passion

“After leaving school in 1986 I applied for and was successful in securing an apprenticeship with a local brickwork company. I was taught, from the bottom upwards, the skills and methods used. In the period from 1987-1990 I attended Waltham Forest College on a weekly day release to obtain a recognised qualification in brickwork.

Upon completion of a three-year study I received 2 Distinctions and 1 Credit at City and Guilds Craft Standard in Brickwork Theory, Technical Drawing and Practical Methods. I found standard brickwork unchallenging and shortly after passing the City and Guilds Course I changed fields and began a new career in Building Restoration. I soon became fascinated, strived to perfect the many different methods used and I found my base grounding in brickwork to be very advantageous.

In the year 2000 I decided to found Finelay Construction and we have since, completed a multitude of projects in the field of Building Restoration. I still find this field of work hugely rewarding and there is still no better feeling than seeing a restoration project through from beginning to end.”

Adrian worked on the house next door to us and I wanted to say how considerate and tidy he was. Adrian made sure everything was covered up in our front garden before he started then tidied up before he left. He was also kind enough to do a few quick fixes which was super kind of him. At the end of the job Adrian washed the front of our property down including clearing all our gutters out! The job Adrian did was fantastic as we have had the same work done to our property in the past, so as a neighbour I would highly recommend Finley Construction - a solid 10 from me!

Adrian did a fantastic job of restoring the front of our home. He successfully removed layers of paintwork covering our Victorian red brick terrace house and meticulously repaired any damaged brickwork. The house is unrecognisable to how it once looked and all the neighbours comment on how lovely it looks :) Adrian is extremely knowledgeable in restoration, reliable and easy to work with. We had a clear and detailed quote outlining everything that had been discussed with the paint removal and brick restoration. We had some cracking in the bay which Adrian advised upon and rectified - no longer noticeable. The process was very easy, with superb communication and they were incredibly clean! Adrian and Simon have done a great job renovating the front of our house. The old paintwork was removed and the brickwork was restored to its former glory. He was very meticulous in clearing up every day and made sure our neighbours were kept happy. Although we had to wait over a year for the work to be carried out it was worth the wait. My partner and I spent quite a long time finding the right partner for our renovations project. We spoke to about 4/5 people. Adrian and Simon came over and gave us confidence immediately – the first by the point that Adrian, the owner of the business would be on the tools on our job. The second, and this was the ‘tell tell’ sign was that Adrian was booked up for over a year. Other people said they could start in two weeks but we decided that the proof was in the pudding with everyone else wanting to book Adrian. Alas, a year went by and he and Simon have done a fantastic job. We could have done it cheaper but there’s trades that don’t have the quality and skillset that Adrian and Simon do – as they started the project, we were really grateful to have a team at the peak of their game who could offer us a superior product and the results speak for themselves. Adrian and Simon offer a premium, top of the range service which when you’re renovating, you want and I’d certainly recommend them – you’re in incredibly safe hands. Communication was perfect and the end result is amazing. We wish Adrian and Simon every success!
